MYHA fields travel teams, both coed and girls' teams at all age classifications and all levels: AA, Upper A, Lower A and B. Travel teams practice twice a week and have games on the weekends. MYHA travel teams play in the Chesapeake Bay Hockey League (CBHL) and the coed teams also play in the Atlantic Hockey Federation (AHF). MYHA also fields Travel Lite teams that practice just once per week and play only in the local CBHL league.
Thanks to MYHA’s partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), all MYHA parents will have the opportunity to attend PCA’s highly-recommended training program: Developing Winners in Life Through Sports.
This program is FREE for all MYHA parents and is led by professional PCA facilitators. The session will provide valuable pointers for parents on subjects such as…
- Talking to your child about practices, games, and what they are learning through sports
- Helping your skater bounce back from mistakes and adversity
- Finding the right mix of truthful, specific praise and constructive criticism
MYHA strongly encourages parents to attend this interactive session. We promise it will be well worth your time – and applicable to your experience across all youth sports. All parents attending the workshop will receive a copy of the book Positive Sports Parenting, written by PCA Founder Jim Thompson.
Parents have the opportunity to attend a session either in person or virtually via Zoom:
Wednesday, October 20 from 7:00-8:30pm upstairs at the Rockville Ice Arena
Thursday, October 28 from 7:00-8:30pm via Zoom (registration link coming soon)
