At the end of every season, MYHA recognizes the house program players who best represent the spirit of sportsmanship with the Paul McKenzie Sportsmanship Award. This prestigious award honors the player from each team who embodies the principles that MYHA, along with the Positive Coaching Alliance, has set as the gold standard for developing young people through athletics. At MYHA, we firmly believe in cultivating respect for rules, opponents, officials, teammates, and self. We recognize that the lessons learned on the ice extend far beyond the rink and contribute to the growth and development of young athletes as they navigate the challenges of life.
The coach of each house team is assigned the difficult task of selecting the one player who has consistently exhibited a commitment to sportsmanship, leadership, and excellence on and off the ice during this season. On Sunday, March 12 prior to each level’s championship game, the 2022-2023 Paul McKenzie Sportsmanship Award recipients were honored. Those players are:
